UpdraftPlus 1.7.20 Release

UpdraftPlus 1.7.20 has been released – there are just two changes from 1.7.18 of a few days ago, but the first we thought important enough to release now, despite the inconvenience (apologies!) if you’d already updated:

  • Fix: WordPress’s scheduling system is a bit dodgy at times, and is prone to kicking off jobs more than once if your web server happens to be significantly overloaded at the time of the job. UpdraftPlus has various strategies to deal with this, but 1.7.20 has a significant new addition in this area. We decided to release this now, as 1.7.18 added some new techniques to help people who had the converse problem – that their WordPress schedulers were hard to kick into life. Unfortunately some of those techniques made it more likely that overloaded webservers would trigger the multiple-run problem. The numbers of people that either problem affects should be very low.
  • Tweak: We added a couple of tweaks which provide better feedback during the restore process, particularly again on overloaded webservers that were liable to misbehave.
