Troubleshooting

Why am I getting an ‘updraft send command internal server error’ when restoring my database?

If you are restoring your database and you notice a pop-up with the following error message, it indicates that something has gone wrong on your server.

updraft send command: error: error (Internal Server Error)

We recommend the following steps:

  1. Disable all plugins apart from UpdraftPlus
  2. Enable WordPress debugging by following these instructions, or for a simpler approach install a plugin such as Debug Log Manager.
  3. Retry the database restoration, if the same issue occurs, check your WordPress debug error log for details of the error and contact our support team who will be happy to assist you.

If there are no errors in the WordPress debug, we recommend contacting your hosting company.

Provide them with the error message and ask them if they could check the server level PHP error logs for further information.
