How to clean your WordPress database

The database cleaning feature is a great way to reduce your site’s loading time, remove unnecessary data from database tables and regain disk space lost to data fragmentation.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to using it.

1. Select the data you want to clean

Section titled 1. Select the data you want to clean
  • Go to WP-Optimize >> Database.
  • Click the Optimizations tab.
  • Select the optimization options that you wish to use.

Check the Take a backup with UpdraftPlus before doing this checkbox.

Click the Run all selected optimizations button.  The number of issues that have been optimised will appear under each optimisation.

  • Go to WP-Optimize >> Database
  • Click the Tables tab
  • Check Optimize InnoDB tables anyway

Check the Take a backup with UpdraftPlus before any actions upon tables (recommended) checkbox.

Click the Optimize button next to each database table that you wish to optimize.
