UpdraftPlus
Back up, restore and migrate your WordPress website with UpdraftPlus
Back up only the changes made to your WordPress site since the last backup (vs full backups). Reduce server load, back up time, and save storage space.
A full backup creates a complete copy of all the data in your WordPress site. It captures your themes, plugins, media, and the database.
An incremental backup only saves the data that has changed since the last backup. This includes new, modified, or deleted files. An incremental backup does not back up the database.
By capturing only the changes made since the last backup, incremental backups reduce server load and use fewer resources. This results in faster backup times, as transferring less data is quicker than performing full backups.
Additionally, incremental backups save storage space by avoiding the duplication of unchanged data.
Another benefit is change versioning, which allows users to access multiple historical versions of their data. This feature is particularly useful for tracking changes or undoing any modifications made over time.
Been using UpdraftPlus for 5+ Years, always gets the job done. Backup and restore, site migrate/carbon copy, you name it. Recently had an issue restoring a backup for my site from Google Drive. Reached out to the support team and Vanessa helped me to get my site back up and running to its previous stable state. This is a great plugin.

An incremental backup, backs up only the changes made to your website since the last backup, rather than taking a full copy of your site every time.
Taking multiple full backups means data is duplicated, taking up more space on the server than you may need. Incremental backups reduce server load and save storage space (and the associated costs).
Incremental backups capture changes made to files (e.g. plugins, themes etc.) since the last full backup.
Backing up incremental changes to the database would be complex and resource intensive, requiring a dedicated system to track changes at the level of individual records or transactions.
They’re essentially the same thing, except a differential backup is used to refer to a backup of changes made since the last full backup. An incremental backup is used to refer to a backup of changes made since either the last incremental or the last full backup.
